Backpacking around the Top End

Check out our current YHA Hostel special:
Accommodation, Breakfast, Crocodile Cruise & Wetland Tour!

Whether your holiday is just beginning or nearly at the end, there is no better way to get to know the "Top End". Backpacking in the Northern Territory is an economical way to experience the best of northern Australia, and Mary River Park is the perfect "base camp" for excursions to many of the Top End's most popular attractions.

Mary River Park is on the Arnhem Highway, 77km off the Stuart Highway and 32km from Kakadu National Park. If you do not have your own transport, Greyhound Buses pick-up and set-down at Mary River Park every day.

As you head toward Mary River Park, you will notice the everchanging landscapes - enjoy the woodlands when you turn onto the Arnhem Highway, discover wetlands on each side of you as you approach "Windows on the Wetland", continue on and don't miss a photo opportunity with giant termite mounds.

We offer YHA Hostel discounted accommodation, cooking facilities, camping, crocodile cruises, 4WD tours, and woodland, grassland or wetland bushwalks that are perfect for birdwatching or simply being close to nature.

Meals are country hospitality at its best - homestyle meals are served in our tropical design dining room overlooking the woodlands. Meal times are flexible, and are adjusted to suit guests leaving or returning on tours away from Mary River Park.

We have various tours available for guests to explore the spectacular landscapes and migratory birdlife. Tour options will vary according to the time of year.
